As reported by ‘The Daily Newspaper,’ “The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ordered Senator Ishaku Abbo’s Removal, Giving APC’s Adamawa North Senatorial Seat to Mr. Amos Yohanna”
In a significant turn of events, the Court of Appeal in Abuja has ruled that Senator Ishaku Abbo was not the legitimate winner of the February 25th senatorial election in Adamawa State, leading to the removal of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Adamawa North Senatorial seat. This ruling comes after Mr. Amos Yohanna, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), contested the election’s outcome and sought justice.
The three-member panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme, found that the judgment of the lower tribunal was contrary to the law and justice and, as a result, set it aside. The appellate court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return previously issued to Senator Abbo and issue a fresh one to Mr. Amos Yohanna, recognizing him as the duly elected Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District.
This ruling highlights the importance of adherence to electoral laws and procedures, with the court finding that there was a lack of compliance with the Electoral Act. The Court of Appeal’s decision underscores the significance of lawful votes, ultimately granting victory to Mr. Amos Yohanna and the PDP in the Adamawa North Senatorial District.
