In response to a recent internet report alleging that President Vladimir Putin suffered a heart attack, the Kremlin has officially discredited the claim.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov vehemently rejected the heart attack rumor, categorizing it as a baseless hoax in a statement provided to local media.
The source of this denial was a widely circulated report on a Russian Telegram blog, which claimed that Putin had experienced a heart attack during the preceding weekend and had been revived by medical professionals.
Although the report lacked credibility, the Kremlin deemed it necessary to clarify the situation.
Peskov dismissed the heart attack rumors as “unfounded Western media reports.”
Speculation about the health of the 71-year-old Russian president has been a recurring topic, with no confirmed information available regarding any health issues he may be dealing with.
The status of Putin’s health has taken on particular importance in Russia as the 2024 presidential election approaches. While the exact election date has yet to be announced, it is widely expected that Putin will seek another term in office.
Peskov affirmed that the election is “approaching and will definitely take place.” He also refuted assertions that Putin employs body doubles for public appearances, stating, “I can confirm that there are no substitutes.”
