n a recent statement released by the family of the renowned actor, John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, it was disclosed that he has undergone a series of critical medical procedures to fight for his life.

News about his health struggles emerged in October, prompting a call for financial assistance to aid in his treatment.

According to the statement posted on the actor’s Instagram page, it was revealed that Mr. Ibu has courageously endured seven successful surgeries in his battle for survival. Regrettably, one of his legs had to be amputated in a bid to enhance his chances of recovery.

The statement reads: “Good afternoon, fellow Nigerians. We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all those who have extended their support to our beloved father. Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude, and only the grace of the Almighty can adequately thank you for the assistance you’ve provided.

“Today, at noon, our father successfully underwent seven surgeries. However, in the relentless effort to preserve his life and improve his prospects for recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated.

“This has been an incredibly challenging development for our family, but we have had to accept it as a new reality in our father’s journey to survival.

“We humbly continue to seek support from compassionate Nigerians, as Mr. Ibu remains in a fragile condition and requires all the assistance he can receive.

“Thank you to all, and please know that the Okafor family deeply appreciates your unwavering support. In due time, Mr. Ibu will personally acknowledge each and every one of you who stood by him during this trying period, as soon as his health stabilizes.”
