The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully complied with a court order by presenting the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, before a High Court in Maitama, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Emefiele made his appearance in the courtroom accompanied by EFCC officials.
This court appearance on Tuesday follows a directive issued on November 2.
Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, in response to an ex-parte application by Emefiele on November 2, had ordered the EFCC to either release him unconditionally or bring him before the court on November 6 for potential bail consideration.
Despite the reiteration of this order on November 6, the EFCC had failed to release or produce him in court at that time.
The courtroom is now filled with anticipation, awaiting the arrival of the judge and the commencement of proceedings.
