Italian fashion maestro Davide Renne, former head of women’s wear at Gucci, passed away at 46, just nine days after assuming the role of creative director at Moschino.
The cause of his death remains undisclosed, characterized only as a “sudden illness.”
Renne, born in Follonica, Tuscany, in July 1977, had a nearly two-decade tenure at Gucci before embarking on his brief but impactful journey with Moschino.
Aeffe’s chairman, Massimo Ferretti, expressed the profound sorrow felt by the fashion community, highlighting Renne’s immediate impact and leaving the responsibility of realizing his creative vision.
The designer’s inaugural Moschino collection, scheduled for Milan Fashion Week in February, now stands as a poignant testament to his unfulfilled potential.
Influential figures in the fashion realm, including Harris Reed and Karen Elson, have paid tribute on social media, emphasizing Renne’s angelic presence and expressing heartfelt condolences. Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Renne’s mentor, bid farewell on Instagram, ensuring that the departed designer will forever reside in his heart.
