On Sunday, Inter Miami revealed on their official website that Lionel Messi, who joined the club in June after his PSG contract expired, has been named the team’s MVP for the 2023 season.
In his initial 14 games, the 36-year-old contributed significantly with 11 goals and eight assists, leading the team to their first title, the inaugural Leagues Cup.
Despite this success, Messi couldn’t guide them to the MLS playoffs.
This recognition follows the recent achievement of Messi winning his sixth Ballon d’Or, and he joins the ranks of past Miami award recipients Gonzalo Higuain and Lewis Morgan.
