The Federal Government has revised charges against former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, reducing the counts from 20 to six. Originally linked to alleged procurement fraud totaling N6.9bn, the amended charges now state the amount as N1.2bn.
Emefiele, initially charged alongside a CBN employee and her company, now stands as the sole defendant.
Delays in the arraignment before the FCT High Court occurred twice, attributed to the Department of State Services.
The amended charges accuse Emefiele of illegally purchasing 43 vehicles between 2018 and 2020, with a total worth of N1.2bn.
The arraignment on Wednesday was postponed due to the strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.
