Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh announced on Tuesday that the group is close to signing a truce agreement with Israel.
Negotiations aim to release about 240 hostages, mainly Israelis, taken during an October 7 attack.
The talks, led by Yahya Sinwar, have been facilitated by Qatar.
The truce conditions involve releasing 50–100 Israeli civilians and foreign hostages in exchange for the release of 300 Palestinians from Israeli detention.
US President Joe Biden expressed optimism on Monday, and the International Committee of the Red Cross is involved in humanitarian efforts related to the conflict in Israel and Gaza.
