The historic 1913 building of The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company in Jacksonville has been transformed into a festive countdown to Christmas Advent calendar.
Throughout December, the 110 feet tall building’s 24 windows will showcase a new Holiday icon each day until Christmas on Sunday, December 25.
Similar to a home advent calendar, the public is welcome to visit the bank lobby or drive-up lanes to receive a sweet treat in celebration of the days leading up to Christmas.
The numbered windows debut on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 24, coinciding with the Jacksonville Christmas Parade, and the daily advent reveals commence on Dec 1.
Joy French Becker, the Bank President, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to offer this new tradition to the Jacksonville area once again in 2023.
It has become a wonderful addition to the remarkable transformation of our downtown over the last decade, and we are thrilled to contribute to the renewal of our city once again.”
The festive display will be on view until January 6, 2024. The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company, situated at 200 West State Street since 1941, holds a place on the National Register of Historic Places
