A Nigerian master’s student, Somtochukwu Okwuoha, has been found guilty by a jury of making terrorist threats against the University of Dundee.
The 26-year-old International Energy Studies student faces potential jail time and deportation to Nigeria for claiming to have enlisted ISIS to bomb the university and expressing intentions to launch a chemical attack on the city.
Okwuoha, who asserted a military background, sent emails containing terrorist threats to university staff, warning of a bomb explosion and invoking ISIS involvement.
The guilty verdict covers charges including threatening to murder university staff, committing terrorist crimes, mass murder, using biological weapons, and disclosing staff details to international authorities.
The sentencing is scheduled for next month, with a consideration for Okwuoha’s deportation.
