The Centers for Disease Control reports 99 cases of a Salmonella outbreak across 32 states, with 45 hospitalizations.
The outbreak is linked to both the U.S. and Canada.
Recalled products include cantaloupes with “Malichita” or “Rudy” stickers (number “4050”), Vineyard brand pre-cut cantaloupes, Aldi whole cantaloupes, and Freshness Guaranteed/RaceTrac brand pre-cut cantaloupes.
Authorities advise against consuming recalled cantaloupes, urging people to wash items in hot soapy water if in contact.
Severe symptoms like high fever and vomiting should prompt a call to healthcare providers, and businesses are warned not to sell the affected cantaloupes.
