The French Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, Olivier Becht, announced France’s commitment to enhancing trade ties with Nigeria in the agricultural sector during an investment forum.
Becht highlighted the significance of the Food for Nations digital trade platform, developed by JR Farms, as a means to facilitate access to the French and European markets for players in the agribusiness value chain.
He expressed confidence that this platform would significantly boost trade relations between the two nations.
Becht emphasized the role of the agri-food industry as a key element in fostering cooperation between France and Nigeria, citing France’s culinary heritage and technical expertise.
JR Farms’ CEO, Olawale Rotimi, described the event as a celebration of partnerships that contribute to growth.
Rotimi disclosed collaborations with two French companies for agribusiness training and revealed plans for the Food for Nations platform to connect Nigeria to the European market.
Additionally, JR Farms is in talks with Air France to initiate the first food cargo in Nigeria.
Rotimi expressed the company’s interest in further collaborations and economic ties between Nigeria and France, including acquiring farmlands in France and exploring opportunities for exporting commodities.
