President Joe Biden’s administration will send emails to approximately 813,000 student loan borrowers, notifying them of debt forgiveness due to the president’s actions, the White House announced.
Despite setbacks at the Supreme Court, Biden has successfully cleared $127 billion in student debt for over 3.5 million borrowers, marking a historic achievement.
The email, sent less than a year before the 2024 presidential election, emphasizes the president’s role in providing relief.
The debt cancellation, facilitated through existing programs like Public Service Loan Forgiveness and income-driven repayment plans, aims to offer much-needed support to American families.
While facing opposition from Republican figures, a majority of voters express support for at least partial student loan forgiveness, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll.
