Tragedy struck at Peke village along the Oko-Olowo area on the Ilorin/Bode-Saadu/Jebba Expressway in Kwara State as a petrol tanker, traveling on the wrong side of the road, collided with a heavy-duty truck and an 18-seater bus.
The resulting fire claimed 25 lives and left 15 others with serious injuries.
According to reports, the tanker, en route from Niger State, ignited a fierce blaze upon impact, engulfing both vehicles and the bus.
Authorities, including the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the incident.
The Kwara State Director of Fire Service, Mr. John Falade, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and urged road users to prioritize safety.
