A blaze engulfed the Senate building of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, at approximately 4:15 pm on Friday.
The fire originated in a small room housing an electrical Distribution Board on the ground floor, but timely intervention by university firefighters and security personnel prevented casualties.
Though the Distribution Board and some outdated public address systems were lost, power has been restored.
The cause remains unknown, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Kabiru Bala praised the swift response, while the University Management initiates investigations into the incident.
