Six days following the tragic Kaduna bombing, which claimed the lives of over 120 civilians, the Concerned Northern Forum, a group comprising lawyers, has threatened legal action against Nigerian authorities.
The forum insists on adequate compensation for the victims of the Sunday night bombings in Tudun Biri village, Kaduna State, carried out by the Nigerian military during a Maulud celebration.
While the army admitted responsibility, citing an error in bomb deployment, the forum’s spokesperson, Barrister Nafi’u Abubakar, emphasized the need for accountability, a thorough investigation, and proactive measures to prevent similar incidents.
The group also called on the Nigerian Army to reassess rules of engagement to prevent civilian casualties, pledging unwavering support for justice and compensation for the victims.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima vowed to punish those responsible during a visit to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, ensuring measures to prevent future occurrences.
