On the night of December 14, a small aircraft crash-landed on Interstate 26 West between Long Shoals and Airport roads, near Asheville Regional Airport.
The plane, carrying two individuals, caught fire after the forced landing, leading to the indefinite closure of the westbound lane.
Emergency services promptly transported the passengers to a nearby hospital, where reports indicated their injuries were non-life-threatening.
