Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the former Governor of Anambra State, has passed away at 85 after battling an undisclosed illness in Abuja.
The Ezeife family, represented by Chief Rob Ezeife, announced his demise, highlighting his notable roles as the first Executive Governor of Anambra State, a former Federal Permanent Secretary, Political Adviser to the President, and Presidential Aspirant.
The sad event occurred at 6 pm on Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.

Ezeife, elected under the Social Democratic Party in 1992, served as Anambra’s governor until the military takeover in 1993.
He held academic achievements, including a BSc in Economics from the University College Ibadan and masters/PhD degrees from Harvard University.
Additionally, he served as Special Adviser on Political Matters during Nigeria’s fourth republic under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.
