Colorado’s Supreme Court, in a groundbreaking decision, ruled on Tuesday that Donald Trump’s candidacy in the state’s primary next year is prohibited on constitutional grounds.
The court cited the 14th Amendment, stating that President Trump is disqualified under Section Three, preventing his inclusion on the 2024 presidential primary ballot.
The decision is on hold until Jan. 4 for potential appeals, with Trump’s campaign expressing intent to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The court emphasized the gravity of its decision, acknowledging the uncharted territory.
The ruling reversed a lower court decision, alleging Trump’s incitement of insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
