A 6-year-old named Casper had his first plane experience with Spirit Airlines, but things went awry.
Despite his intended flight from Philadelphia to Florida, Casper ended up in Orlando, 167 miles away.
His grandmother, who had the check-in tag, questioned the mix-up, suspecting the flight attendant might have let him wander off.
Spirit Airlines acknowledged the error, stating Casper was always under their care.
The airline apologized and is conducting an internal investigation.
Their policy for unaccompanied minors requires a gate pass and supervision until 15 minutes after takeoff for the accompanying person.
