Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the need for Israel to assume full control of the Gaza Strip’s border corridor with Egypt, specifically the Philadelphi Corridor, to ensure demilitarization.
This proposed move, if implemented, would signify a significant shift from Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from Gaza, placing the area under exclusive Israeli control.
The Prime Minister made these statements during a press conference as Israeli military operations continued in central and southern Gaza.
The ongoing offensive, lasting “for many more months” according to Netanyahu, has resulted in casualties and widespread displacement among Gaza’s population.
