Pope Francis expressed prayers for Nigeria amidst a surge in killings and insurgent activities, particularly addressing the tragic murder of over 200 individuals in Plateau State.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the pontiff urged collective prayer for the victims and called for divine intervention to free Nigeria from such atrocities.
Additionally, he extended prayers for those affected by violence in Liberia, emphasizing the need for empathy in conflicts worldwide, mentioning Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Sudan, and the Rohingya.
The Pope’s words come in the aftermath of harrowing attacks on communities in Plateau State during Christmas eve, resulting in over 200 lives lost and widespread destruction, raising concerns about the effectiveness of security measures.
