The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced that the automation of the passport application process will commence on January 8, 2024.
Nigerians will be able to apply and complete their passport application online, eliminating the need for in-person contact.
Tunji-Ojo emphasized the reduction of in-person contact in passport acquisition, aiming to enhance security and provide a more convenient experience for citizens.
The initiative also includes document verification officers in all local government areas to scrutinize passport applications and curb the submission of fake documents.
