Just hours before the closing arguments in the New York civil fraud case involving former President Donald Trump, authorities responded to a bomb threat at the home of Judge Arthur Engoron, who is overseeing the trial.
Despite the threat, court proceedings are proceeding as scheduled.
The $250 million lawsuit, brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleges that Trump’s company manipulated asset values for tax and insurance benefits. Trump, denying the claims, was denied the opportunity to deliver his own closing argument by Judge Engoron, who cited concerns about relevance and adherence to the case’s scope.
Closing arguments are set to begin, allowing each side two hours and 15 minutes for final presentations. The case may be concluded by the end of the month.
