Anticipating the inauguration on Monday, January 22, 2024, Liberia welcomes its 26th President, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr.
Born on November 30, 1944, in Wasonga, Lofa County, he previously served as the 29th vice president of the Republic of Liberia (2006-2017) during President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s administration, Africa’s first female head of state.
Boakai had contested the presidency in 2017, narrowly losing to the current incumbent, George Manneh Weah.
