Liberia’s recently inaugurated president, Joseph Boakai, experienced a bout of heat exhaustion during his ceremony but has fully recovered, according to the presidency.
The 79-year-old, victorious in a runoff election against George Weah, faced sweltering heat during the outdoor event in Monrovia.
Despite a temporary pause in his speech and assistance from aides, Boakai has resumed his regular duties, with doctors confirming his well-being.
The president is set to engage in meetings with the Ghanaian President and other dignitaries, dispelling concerns raised by opponents about his age and energy levels during the election campaign.
