Embarking on a significant tour across four nations in the continent, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Cape Verde.
Commending the island nation as a beacon of stability amid regional challenges, he expressed admiration for its resilience.
During the US-Africa summit in 2022, President Joe Biden aimed to underscore his commitment to the continent while initially pledging to visit Africa in 2023, a plan that did not come to fruition.
Despite acknowledging challenges in the Middle East during his last visit to the continent in March of the previous year, Mr. Blinken, quoting President Biden, assured the audience in Cape Verde that the United States remains fully committed to Africa.
He emphasized the interconnected futures and prosperity, noting that African voices play an increasingly prominent role in the global conversation, as reported by the AFP news agency.
