Alaska Airlines is set to resume its 737 Max 9 fleet service on Friday, starting with a flight from Seattle to San Diego.
The airline completed final inspections on its initial group of 737 Max 9s, and this marks the first flight of a 737 Max 9 with a plug door since the recent nationwide grounding.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently approved a comprehensive inspection and maintenance process for Boeing’s 171 Max 9s with plug doors, leading to Alaska’s swift response in initiating inspections and aiming to complete them for all 65 aircraft by the end of next week.
The FAA is still investigating Boeing’s manufacturing practices and has increased oversight, emphasizing that production expansion won’t be approved until quality control issues are resolved.
