The Marlin Luanda, a British oil tanker, caught fire in the Gulf of Aden after being struck by missiles, with Houthi rebels claiming responsibility for the attack.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported the incident, and naval forces from the Yemeni-based Houthi group targeted the vessel, resulting in its burning.
This follows a series of attacks on ships in the Red Sea by the Houthis, who protest against Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip.
The UK and US have conducted air strikes and imposed sanctions on key figures within the Iran-backed militant group.
The situation is deemed illegal and unacceptable, with diplomatic efforts underway to reduce tensions.
