UPDATE: The Russian man who arrived in LA without a passport or ticket, shadowed an unsuspecting passenger through security and eventually boarding a plane the following day.

A Russian man, Sergey Vladimirovich Ochigava, was convicted for sneaking onto a US-bound flight from Denmark to Los Angeles without a passport or ticket.

Ochigava, holding Russian and Israeli passports, tailgated another passenger through security, spent the night in the terminal, and boarded the Scandinavian Airlines flight undetected.

During the 11-hour flight, he switched seats and gave false information to Customs and Border Protection officers upon landing.

Ochigava, found with Russian and Israeli identification cards, claimed confusion and sleep deprivation.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 5.
