In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative, Dr. Ali Pate, Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, officially launched Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) spanning 2024–2026.
The USD 933 million allocated aims to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria in Nigeria.
Dr. Pate emphasized collaborative efforts directed by President Tinubu between the Federal Government, state governments, and development partners to enhance health outcomes for Nigerians.
He distributed the Global Fund grant to recipients, including the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, the National Tuberculosis, Leprosy & Buruli Ulcer Control Programme, and others.
To meet the 95-95-95 targets by 2025 for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, the Federal Government is committed to improving health through governance, transparency, primary healthcare, maternal and child health, infrastructure, and health security.
Dr. Pate urged the Global Fund and principal recipients to support local manufacturers, build trust, and ensure diligence in fund utilization, particularly for vulnerable populations.
The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, highlighted how the funds would fortify the health system for pandemic preparedness in line with President Tinubu’s agenda.
Hon. Amobi Ogah, Chairman of the House Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, assured rigorous oversight for fund accountability.
Permanent Secretary Daju Kachollom highlighted increased grants in Cycle 7 to address critical service coverage gaps among various populations, aiming to enhance Nigeria’s human capital through improved access to quality health services.
