A U.S. F-16 fighter jet crashed into the sea off South Korea’s west coast on Wednesday.
The pilot, assigned to the 8th Fighter Wing, safely ejected and was rescued about an hour later.
This marks the second F-16 crash in just over a month in the country.
Colonel Matthew Gaetke, the commander of the 8th Fighter Wing, expressed gratitude to South Korean rescuers and emphasized the current focus on locating and recovering the aircraft.
The incident occurred over the sea, near the west coast city of Gunsan, which hosts one of the two main U.S. military air bases in South Korea.
