Following the completion of filming for the drama film “The Last Showgirl,” former WWE Champion Dave Bautista is gearing up for his next project, starring in the post-apocalyptic adventure “Afterburn.”
Based on the Red 5 comic series, the movie features Bautista as Jake, an ex-soldier turned treasure hunter, teaming up with freedom fighter Drea to secure the iconic Mona Lisa before a menacing warlord claims it.
Samuel L. Jackson will join the cast as Valentine.
Directed by J.J. Perry, filming is set to commence in Europe in April.
Bautista, also a producer, will bring the story to life through his company Dogbone Entertainment.
Producers Neal H. Moritz, Toby Jaffe, and Steve Richards are on board, with Jaffe describing “Afterburn” as a blend of “Indiana Jones” and the near-future world of “Children of Men.”
