The UK government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria in advancing high-quality education.
Kemi Badenoch, the UK’s Minister for Business and Trade, emphasized this dedication during her visit to the construction site of Charterhouse School’s new campus in Lekki Ajah, Lagos State.
The school, set to begin operations in September 2024, aims to provide a comprehensive academic program with a focus on diverse extracurricular activities.
Recent diplomatic negotiations have lifted constraints on transnational education investment in Nigeria, fostering partnerships between UK and Nigerian higher education institutions, with an initial investment valued at £50 million.
Minister Badenoch expressed hope for more investments in Nigeria’s education sector and praised the progress of Charterhouse School—the first UK-independent school in West Africa.
John Todd, the Director of Education at Charterhouse School, affirmed the institution’s commitment to British educational standards.
Minister Badenoch’s visit also includes engagements with key stakeholders to explore trade and investment opportunities.
