Kemi Badenoch, the UK Minister for Business and Trade, has arrived in Nigeria for a focused 72-hour agenda aimed at strengthening UK-Nigeria collaboration and exploring new investment opportunities.
The visit, following prior engagements in August 2023 and recent security talks, highlights the ongoing efforts to reinforce the trade alliance.
Minister Badenoch’s objectives include enhancing the UK-Nigeria partnership, addressing trade barriers, promoting business growth, and improving access to the City of London for global business, particularly for Nigeria.
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, underlines Nigeria’s pivotal role in the UK’s African partnerships and expresses commitment to catalyzing investment and generating employment.
During her stay, Minister Badenoch and Trade Envoy Helen Grant will engage with the Federal Government, state governors, and business leaders, discussing investment and trade initiatives across sectors.
The discussions aim to create employment opportunities and build on recent reforms in Nigeria, fostering optimism among international investors.
Kemi Badenoch, who assumed office on February 7, 2023, retains her roles as Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Secretary of State for International Trade, President of the Board of Trade, and Minister for Women and Equalities for the Equality Hub since October 25, 2022.
