House Homeland Security Chair Mark Green (R-Tenn.) has decided not to seek re-election, citing frustration with the dysfunctional state of Congress and the slim GOP majority.
His departure aligns with other prominent Republicans leaving Congress.
Green emphasized his accomplishments, including the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and work on border security.
While expressing frustration with the broken system, he leaves the door open for a potential future bid for higher office and is currently focused on supporting former President Trump’s election efforts in November.
