At the Super Bowl parade for the Kansas City Chiefs, a gunman opened fire, prompting Paul Contreras, a courageous bystander, to take action.
Alongside another individual, Contreras wrestled the assailant to the ground, concerned about the possibility of additional weapons.
They managed to restrain the gunman until law enforcement arrived.
Contreras acted based on a bystander’s urgency, not having directly witnessed the initial gunfire.
The detained individual’s connection to the shooting is still uncertain.
Another witness, Trey Filter, also joined in the effort, expressing relief upon confirming they had subdued the correct person.
