Last week marked a significant achievement in the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue as the first work plan was signed on February 13th, 2024.
Co-chaired by Germany’s State Secretary Stefan Schnorr and Kenya’s Director of ICT, Jackson Makewa, the meeting in Nairobi outlined collaborative efforts in key areas such as Internet Governance, Data Policy, Cybersecurity, Digital Innovation, Sustainable Growth, and Digital Public Infrastructure.
The initiative, led by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, aims to facilitate international collaboration for a smoother digital transformation.
Following the signing, a diverse gathering of over 110 representatives engaged in discussions on Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and the Digital Economy.
Kenya’s focus on promoting the digital economy and creating jobs through Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) was emphasized, with discussions involving the Business Processes Outsourcing Association of Kenya (BPOAK).
Noteworthy organizations such as KICTANet, stiftung neue verantwortung, Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, and Tech Innovators Network participated in the Digital Dialogue.
Future joint stakeholder events in 2024 will delve deeper into these topics, with a review planned for the last quarter, setting the stage for enhanced digital collaboration between Kenya and Germany.
