A high-ranking executive from the popular daytime talk show “Sherri” was discovered dead this month in what appears to be a suicide.
Matt Uzzle, 50, who previously managed “The Wendy Williams Show” and continued as an executive for “Sherri,” was found at his New York home on February 13.
The tragedy unfolded amid an investigation into missing funds and unpaid studio rent.
Uzzle’s role at “Sherri” involved overseeing production and budgetary matters, with recent complaints about financial issues triggering concerns among staff.
The show’s parent company, Debmar-Mercury, launched an inquiry into Uzzle’s management of the budget.
After failed attempts to reach Uzzle, a welfare check revealed his unfortunate demise, suspected to be suicide.
Debmar-Mercury has enlisted a law firm for an internal investigation, and Sherri Shepherd paid a heartfelt tribute on air.
Uzzle, known for his work on multiple talk shows, including “The Wendy Williams Show,” passed away over a year after “Sherri” premiered in September 2022, following tension between Shepherd and Wendy Williams.
