Google has declared the discontinuation of its standalone “Google Pay” app for U.S.-based users starting June 4, 2024.
Users will no longer access P2P transactions within the app, but key features like tap-to-pay and management tools will be available through Google Wallet.
Until June 4, users can transfer their balance to their bank, but afterward, transfers will be limited to the website.
The closure eliminates P2P payment options and the “Trending Deals” segment.
Google encourages users to transition to Google Wallet, emphasizing its unified card and ID storage.
This move echoes Google’s 2022 shift in other regions, replacing Pay with Wallet.
