The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) urged Ethiopian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release French journalist Antoine Galindo, who was unjustly detained on February 22 in Addis Ababa while interviewing a political officer.
Galindo, a reporter for Africa Intelligence, faces serious allegations, but his lawyer claims no substantive evidence has been provided.
CPJ highlighted Ethiopia’s concerning press freedom record, with at least eight journalists still in jail, and called for the release of all detained journalists.
The Ethiopian government has not responded to CPJ’s requests for comment on Galindo’s case.
