The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called off nationwide rallies initiated on Tuesday, stating that the protest’s objectives were achieved on the first day.
The protest addressed concerns about soaring inflation, food prices, a forex crisis, and economic hardships resulting from the removal of petrol subsidies. Despite last-minute talks with the Presidency, the NLC had insisted on the demonstration, emphasizing it was about hunger.
Street action is suspended for the second day, with nationwide activities continuing through Press Conferences.
The NLC extended its ultimatum to the government by another 7 days, set to expire on March 13, 2024, with further action planned if demands are not met.
