President Bola Tinubu has directed the comprehensive execution of the Oronsaye report, leading to the amalgamation, absorption, elimination, and relocation of numerous government agencies.
The decision, disclosed by Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris after a Federal Executive Council meeting, involves scrapping, modifying, and relocating various entities for enhanced operational efficiency.
A committee, headed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Mrs. Hadiza Bala-Usman, has been constituted to oversee the mergers, scrapping, and relocations within a 12-week timeframe.
The Oronsaye report, submitted in 2012, recommended significant restructuring, including slashing statutory agencies, scrapping certain entities, and merging others, with specific suggestions for anti-corruption agencies and institutional realignments.
