In the 71-year history of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), only 100 acts have achieved 5 or more multi-Platinum-certified albums, a milestone recently reached by Usher.
Before February, the exclusive list included only 4 solo Black male vocalists – Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, and Luther Vandross.
Usher’s recent certification upgrades, notably the Diamond status for ‘Yeah,’ brought his total multi-Platinum LP count to 5, joining an elite group alongside other accomplished Black male vocalists.
