Flight attendants at Lufthansa are urging for an additional fee on special meals due to the overwhelming demand and complexity of catering to various dietary and religious preferences.
According to Aero Telegraph, a representative for Lufthansa cabin crew highlighted that up to 190 passengers request special meals on long-haul flights, posing challenges for the staff.
Proposed solutions include charging passengers for special meals, limiting the quantity, or reducing the available options.
The airline acknowledges the issue, stating that special meals and in-flight service processes are regularly reviewed and developed.
This comes amid growing employee discontent, with Lufthansa ground staff engaging in their third strike this month over wage disputes.
