Paul Pogba has received a four-year football ban for a doping violation, having tested positive for testosterone in September.
The France and Juventus midfielder, a World Cup winner in 2018, was suspended by Italy’s anti-doping body, and a request for a maximum four-year ban was granted.
Pogba, now 31, faces potential career consequences, though he intends to appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The tribunal cited the presence of “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites,” requiring proof of intentional rule-breaking for the extended suspension.
Pogba maintains he did not intentionally violate anti-doping rules.
