President Joe Biden is set to announce an “emergency” military mission during his State of the Union address, focusing on constructing a Mediterranean port along Gaza’s coast for humanitarian aid.
This effort, undertaken by the U.S. and partner countries, will involve a temporary pier to facilitate the arrival of essential supplies via large ships.
While emphasizing no need for American troops on the ground, officials stress the urgency of aid delivery to Gaza and explore various channels, including a temporary cease-fire deal.
The U.S. has allocated over $180 million in aid, with ongoing efforts to improve accessibility through land crossings and air drops.
