A Saudi robotics company introduced “Muhammad,” the country’s first humanoid male robot, at DeepFest in Riyadh. During a presentation, the robot, dressed traditionally, appeared to inappropriately touch a female reporter, leading to social media criticism.
QSS, the robotics firm, claimed Muhammad is “fully autonomous” and operated within expected behavior, implementing additional measures to ensure safety during demonstrations.
Despite the incident, the AI-driven humanoid robotics industry is projected to be worth $13.8 billion by 2028, though challenges persist before widespread adoption.
