The airstrike by Israel on a UN food distribution center in southern Gaza reportedly targeted a Hamas commander, resulting in his death according to Israeli sources.
However, Palestinian health officials stated that the strike also killed four others, including a UN worker.
The Israeli military identified the targeted individual as Mohammad Abu Hasna, described as a Hamas militant involved in intelligence gathering and aid distribution.
Hamas has not confirmed Abu Hasna’s affiliation.
Prior to this incident, a UN facility in Rafah, southern Gaza, was struck, causing casualties including at least one UN staff member.
UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini condemned the attack, highlighting the critical food shortage in Gaza.
Hamas refuted Israel’s claims, alleging exploitation of famine to pressure Palestinians.
