The former Mexican gang member accused of stabbing Derek Chauvin 22 times in a bold prison assault has requested special privileges as he prepares for his attempted murder trial.
John Turscak, represented by lawyer Laura Udall, seeks unlimited paper, a writing tool, space for legal documents, and up to six hours of daily computer access in his Arizona prison cell to review extensive case evidence totaling over 950,000 kilobytes.
Turscak, initially claiming responsibility for the attack on Chauvin, now aims to vigorously defend himself despite overwhelming evidence, including video footage and witness statements.
Federal prosecutors are not opposed to granting Turscak a laptop for his defense preparations, pending court approval.
